Internal Medicine & Cardiology

Internal Medicine & Cardiology:

Internal Medicine is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious and non-infectious conditions affecting the internal organs, central nervous system and muscles. In veterinary medicine, it covers both mature horses and foals.

Cardiology is a specialised branch of internal medicine that addresses the health of the heart, and conditions affecting it.

We offer investigation, treatment and, where appropriate, advice on prevention for:

Infectious disease

  •  such as respiratory infections, intestinal infections etc.

Hormonal imbalances

  •  such as Equine Cushings Disease (PPID), Equine Metabolic Syndrome etc.

Weight loss or poor weight gain

  •  such as stomach ulcers, parasites, nutritional problems etc.

Neurological conditions

  •  such as Wobblers etc.

Muscle conditions

  •  such as tying-up, polysaccharide storage myopathy etc.

Heart conditions

  •   such as atrial fibrillation, murmurs heard at a vetting, poor performance etc.

We have a sophisticated ultrasound machine, a 3m gastroscope and the ability to take samples from any affected area for analysis to aid in these investigations.
